封面故事：AAS专刊召集国际力量共同研究2020夏季亚洲强降雨
2020年亚洲许多地区经历了不同寻常的雨季：5月，印度东北和孟加拉发生强降雨；6月开始，中国华南、西南和江淮流域等地区发生暴雨，引发洪涝灾害；7月初，日本熊本地区暴雨导致洪水和泥石流；7月13日，韩国南部地区的日降雨量超过一个月的降水量。
为了总结对极端降水事件的科学认识，以及评估各种尺度天气系统的预报技巧在2020年夏季亚洲暴雨的预报和防灾减灾工作中的作用，并讨论及对未来工作的启示，大气所主办英文期刊Advances in Atmospheric Sciences（AAS）主编邀请AAS的中、日、英、美编委Robin T. Clark, Xiquan Dong, Chang-Hoi Ho, Jianhua Sun, Tetsuya Takemi, Huiling Yuan组织了“2020之夏：亚洲的强降雨—机制、可预报性与影响”专刊，得到学术界热烈响应。专刊共计收到中、英、美、韩等国投稿27篇，经审稿后接收17篇，已于11月10日在Springer正式出版（https://link.springer.com/journal/376/volumes-and-issues/38-12）。目前还有文章在陆续投来，后续如接收，将放入同主题虚拟专刊（https://link.springer.com/journal/376/topicalCollection/AC_3599b5269f1727db9524dd7b042b4854/page/1）中。
